| Oct 2025 | SUSPENSION | I'm also a victim of Hyundai's defective Rear suspension. Another complain fully encompasses my situation and feelings. I and others have been replacing rear shocks every 10,000 to 20,000 miles due to failure. The upper trim models will use a self-leveling shock in the rear suspension, part number(s) 55367-S8BDO right side and 55367-S8BBO left side. The lower model trim uses a larger coil spring and non-self-leveling shocks, with no issues. The failure happens within just a few thousand miles. Search web forums for Hyundai Palisades and NHTSA you will find hundreds of issues. The model years affected are 2020 through 2025. The 2026 has completely changes the rear suspension setup and eliminated the self-leveling shock. It appears IMO the manufacture is counting on the warranty expiring and or the resale market to correct their problem. Hyundai refuses to recall the vehicles and correct the problem. They will change the shocks with the same faulty product biding their time. The third most common critical reason for a car accident cited in the NHTSA report was a combination of “steering/suspension/transmission/engine-related problems.” This combination category accounted for just 3 percent of the traffic accidents cited in the report. Part of the reason why these mechanical failures are rarely cited as the critical reason for a car accident is that they’re harder to document and identify post-crash. Blown tires & worn brakes are easy to spot, but problems with the suspension caused by wear and tear are harder to sort out from the damage incurred in the crash. Steering and suspension problems can cause a loss of control over your vehicle at inopportune moments. Transmission and engine problems could keep you from being able to accelerate quickly if the need arises—leaving you stranded in an intersection with oncoming traffic and at risk of a car accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

Routine vehicle maintenance is the best way to prevent steering and suspension issues that could contribute to a car crash. The problem still remains Hyundai will NOT change the manner of repair. Need a recall!! Please! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | SUSPENSION | It's time you finally step up and have Hyundai issue a recall on the rear shocks that fail. The problem is on the upper trim models with self leveling shocks. The shocks fail and will need to be replaced every few thousand miles. The problem exist for years 2020 to 2025. The new models for 2026 Hyundai has completely reworked the rear suspension and no longer uses the self leveling shock. The dealership ADMITS they stock a fair number of shock parts due to the constant failure. Unless you are in the pockets with Hyundai it's time for you NHTSA to make some noise and require a recall...The rear suspension can be corrected with larger coil springs and non-self leveling shocks. I have been through 3 sets of shocks in 25,250 miles. Do you see a problem, or should I call and talk with someone? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | My wife and I were coming up to a stop sign the other day and we hit some bumps in the road and were unable to apply the brakes. I pressed down on the pedal but the car went into the intersection before the brakes then applied and the car was then able to stop again. Thank god!! since there was another car coming to the intersection. The car made noises like when the traction control kicks on after hitting a slippery surface on the road, but the car was not stopping and pressing the brakes did not do anything either. I also tried pumping the brakes on the car, but eventually the brakes kicked back in and we came to a hard stop. I have not taken the car into the shop to be looked at yet, but I know Hyundai and they wont find a problem with it and then charge me around $300 for them just to look at it. There was no warning to problem happening as we had never had this problem before and there was no lights on the display for the car when the problem happened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES | We were almost in a major accident with 6 passengers in our 2023 Hyundai Palisade. On Wednesday, Oct 1, 2025 we were driving our Palisade to McDonalds off Highway 98 (Navarre Parkway). Please see pics. When we left McDonalds we went on a side road to enter Highway 98. Now on this side road (see pictures) there is some type of metal grate in between the road...well when we went over the grate approaching the stop sign the Palisade went into an immediate violent shudder and there was no control of the vehicle as it felt it was shut down even though I could tell it was on by the interior lights on the gauges. I had absolutely no control of the vehicle. Yes, I was the one driving. I could not brake and the Palisade continue to roll past the stop sign onto Highway 98 with on coming traffic. I couldn't even steer the car because its as though the car had no power. It was totally dead. With my foot pressed hard on the brakes that still did not work I tried to start the car and then it came on. My wife has told me that she experienced this issue at least six times passing this same road and others similar to it. This was the first time I experienced it and we were lucky we were not hit by oncoming traffic. Again, no brakes, no steering control. We were traveling at a slow speed as we were approaching the stop sign on that road with the metal grate, maybe 5 mph or less, but as soon as we went over the grates...all control of the Palisade was lost. Please advise us what to do...as I said we almost had a major accident with 6 passengers because the Palisade did not function as it was designed to do. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | SEATS,EQUIPMENT | The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while reversing out of the garage, the powered front driver's seat suddenly began to move backwards, and the contact was unable to reach the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The powered seat then moved forward, causing the seat belt to tighten around the waist of the driver. The contact was able to put the vehicle in park and stopped the vehicle. During the failure, no injuries were reported. Also, the contact indicated that previously, while driving at an undisclosed speed, a message was displayed that the vehicle was driving the wrong way. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving down a dark and unfamiliar road. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 10,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 10,000 |
| Sep 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | On [XXX] around [XXX], turned right from [XXX] is very bumpy due to potholes. My palisade’s ABS kicked in and I was not able to break my car before the red traffic light. The car went over the light. If there was a car in front of me, I wouldn’t be able to stop my car without accident. This is not the first time my palisade’s ABS suddenly engaged. The ABS seems always kick in when driving in low speed on a bumpy road. I am concerned someday I will have an accident due to the faulty ABS. | Sep 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | The braking system has been an ongoing issue, shuddering and grinding when braking and hitting an uneven surface, especially at slower speeds. It has consistently become worse, shuddering, grinding and not stopping when going down a driveway. Tonight when going less than 20MPH and on a smooth surface, it would not stop when coming up to a light/intersection. The shuddering and grinding was much worse and the car kept going forward as if it were on a sheet of ice. The car slid forward more than 20 feet, coming within a few inches of rear-ending the vehicle ahead. It was terrifying! It did the same thing 2 more times in the 3.5 miles to my driveway. Thank goodness there was no other traffic. This is not normal at all and I’m in fear of driving it again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES | My vehicle has an issue with the anti lock braking system on uneven surfaces. On several occasions since buying the vehicle earlier this year, I've observed the issue of chattering or severe on-off reaction of the ABS to gradual braking onnuneven surfaces. I have not had the issue verified by a dealer yet, but plan to soon. The malfunction has extended stopping distances significantly. I have not noticed warning lights during or after the malfunction, likely because I'm focused on safely bringing the vehicle to a stop during the malfunction. My vehicle can be made available for inspection. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | While driving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy at about 30 mph on a small paved street, the sunroof suddenly exploded with a very loud bang. There were no other cars nearby, no debris, and nothing hit the vehicle. Thankfully, the inside sliding cover was closed, so no glass entered the cabin, but the sound was extremely alarming and could have easily caused an accident if conditions were different. The dealership refused to cover the repair under warranty. After looking online, I discovered many other Hyundai owners reporting the same issue with their panoramic sunroofs, so this does not appear to be an isolated incident. This is a major safety concern. If the interior cover had been open, shattered glass would have fallen directly onto me and my passengers, likely causing injuries. The sudden loud explosion can also startle drivers and lead to loss of control. I believe this is a dangerous defect that requires investigation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | POWER TRAIN | The vehicle was brought to the dealership at around 17,000 miles with concerns regarding a clunky sound and hesitation in acceleration. The issue is extremely noticeable while turning and accelerating. No warning lights, messages or audible chimes show up when the issue occurs. Due to the vehicle hesitation on acceleration and the clunky / bouncy feeling in the steering wheel, my wife and I think there is a safety concern (e.g. being hit due to unresponsiveness of the vehicle). The problem was reproduced/confirmed by a dealer, and the rear coupling assembly was replaced. Fast forward 18,000 miles (vehicle now has ~35,000 miles) and the exact same issue is occurring again. I am schedule to take the vehicle back into the dealership for this concern, another concern with the ABS system and general maintenance. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | STRUCTURE | The sunroof glass shattered on its own without any objects hitting it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | It appears that the ABS system engages/actuates while driving over gravel or uneven/dirt roads. When the issue occurs, the steering wheel locks up and the vehicle loses almost all braking control. No warning lights, messages or audible chimes show up when the issue occurs. My wife and I have both experienced this issue on numerous occasions. It has become a safety concern since we almost ended up in a ditch...my wife and young children were in the vehicle. I am fearful that we could potentially crash or hit someone due to loss of vehicle control. The vehicle is being brought to the dealership on September 18, 2025, where I will make them aware of this concern. NOTE: the provided "additional details" below are based on the most recent occurrence. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | When driving over bumps (speed bumps, railroad tracks, sewer lids etc.) at a slow speed while pressing the brakes, the rear passenger brake produces a shuddering or a grinding sensation. This issue has been confirmed by other drivers who have operated my vehicle. When this occurs, it feels as though the vehicle is not stopping properly and the brakes are slipping. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership on two separate occasions; however, the technicians were unable to duplicate the concern. After the most recent inspection, the dealership stated that they could not identify an issue. There are no warning messages or lights displayed on the dashboard when this happens. Through further research, I have found that a number of other owners have reported experiencing the same problem on the NHTSA site. This concerns me that others and myself are having this same issue and there has yet to be a recall or some type of technical service bulletin so the dealers will address this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Leased vehicle in 2023 after a few months rear suspension was giving problems after a year of ignoring claims they saw the rear bushings were out. They changed it and after a few months again the problem came back more permanent. They admitted the part was faulty. Change the suspension and now it sounds like a space ship when breaking. Went in for 30k maintenance and now the ac vents sound like a plane. Two days later after a storm I see the roof is leaking and rear sunroof is also leaking. Since the near three year ownership it has been problem after problem not cause by me but by poor quality management at the dealer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While sitting at a stop sign, I attempted to place my vehicle in Park. I opened the driver’s side door, but the car had not actually shifted into Park. None of the vehicle’s safety systems engaged when the door was opened. The car rolled forward with me partially outside the vehicle, dragging me until it struck a tree. This incident reflects a critical failure in the vehicle’s electrical/safety systems: •The transmission did not engage Park when selected. •The door-open rollaway prevention system did not activate. •The automatic front collision system failed to stop the vehicle. Because multiple electronic safeguards failed at the same time, this appears to be an electrical or computer system malfunction rather than driver error. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | Anti locking braking system malfunctioning and preventing me from braking at low speeds in a parking lot and at a stop light. No lights on internally (Dash). Had to swerve to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me at the stop light and had to hit my horn to have the person in the parking lot slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. Both incidents happened at about 5 miles per hours on flat grounds. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | ABS system engaging at unpredictable times. Unable to stop. Have slid into intersection when braking with perfect road conditions. Feels like I hit ice in 100 degree weather. Experience shaking/brakes locking up. Extremely concerning and frightening when I am driving with children in the car and purchased the vehicle under the assumption it had superior safety ratings. Pleading for recall to be issued due to this system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | System that malfunctioned was the braking system Safety was risked because vehicle doesn’t stop as it should at low speed below 30mph. Safety of occupants as well pedestrians and other motorists affected. Problem can be reproduced although dealer refused to confirm. I am in the process of getting it confirmed independently. Vehicle and components not inspected by manufacturer, police nor insurance. Although I am in the process of putting an insurance claim in. The issue has been reported and confirmed by several other owners of same make and model and year. No prior warning of issue to it happening. The problem: At low speed below 30mph and braking simultaneously when going over rough ground (non slippery), potholes or in my accident going over a 6” drain to my garage, the ABS kicks in when it shouldn’t and the brake pedal vibrates and the vehicle lurches a bit. The result is that the braking distance increases significantly. I can reproduce the issue in particular roads areas. The accident I had involved when I was parking the car and the drain cover was dislodged at the entrance to the garage. I hit the brakes as usual but the brakes were ineffective and I ended up crashing into my refrigerator and freezer in the garage which took the full brunt of the impact and were damaged. I hardly had any brakes at all and the fridges took the full impact. Luckily it was at low speed. So only the front bumper got cracked and got damaged along with the fridges being fully crushed in. After the incident I was so shocked at what happened and couldn’t believe I lost the brakes so I found that several other owners of the same vehicle has had the same or even severe brake failures. I was able to replicate the problem fairly consistently in certain roads where it was slightly bumpy or rough. I didn’t want to try in my garage for obvious reasons. Furthermore the emergency brakes and collision warning did not activate either. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | SUSPENSION | Bumping, Creaking, Popping noise from rear of vehicle, at low speeds (30MPH and under) and when turning. Rear shocks replaced in September 2023 at 10,018 miles; Rear shock mounts replaced in June 2025 and rear shock absorbers replaced in July 2025, at approximately 32,000 miles. Same bumping, creaking, popping noise from rear of vehicle again - Less than 1 month and less than 1,500 miles since rear shock absorbers replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | STEERING,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES | We purchased this car new around June 2023 from a local Hyundai dealer. The car has been regularly maintained (at the dealer) and only has 20,000 miles approximately. In April of this year, my wife was drive on a very busy highway and suddenly all of the warning lights came on the dashboard and the car shuddered to a very rapid stop. She was lucky to pull off the road or it would have been serious. We got it into the dealer and they called a few days later to say it was fixed. Unfortunately, it was not. It happened again on June 20th this year. We had it towed back to the dealer. It has been there since (today is August 5th). They claim they cannot locate the issue and have been working with Hyundai Motor to troubleshoot. I filed a complaint with Hyundai (and really no assistance offered). Last week, they told us it was repaired and to come get it. My wife barely made it out of the lot before it did the same and came to a sudden stop. Not sure if this is happening to other Hyundai vehicles but this is certainly a dangerous situation... and the fact that they cannot determine the cause or how to fix, we are very concerned. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | On [XXX] the engine light went on my 2023 Hyundai palisade SUV. Immediately I drove over the Hyundai dealership to try to find out what the problem was. On my way there, the light remained on, and the car kept making movements as if it was going to turn off, I could barely make the speed increase as I was driving. I went to Healey Hyundai located at 794 Route 52 Fishkill Ny 12524 phone number 845 831 1090 . In spite, the car light on and the issues they refused to attend the car and asked me to go back Monday morning, which I did , same issued on my way there, and I arrived there with the engine light on , service advisor Rasheena M Dyer , took the car, saw the light on, took pictures and asked me to wait for the mechanic to review the car. After two hours the service advisor, said “ there’s nothing we could do, or anything could do, the car is misfiring and anything could be causing the car to misfired, the mechanic don’t see the light right now, therefore, we can’t diagnose anything, but the car is misfiring “. I replied:” my car is under 50,000 miles and under manufacturer warranty, can you give me a rental, while you fixed the engine problem, I have 5 children , how can I drive around with my kids with an engine light on and the issues is giving me”, she replied: we won’t give you a rental because we don’t know what the problem is , ( although they know and said the car motor is misfiring )unless you pay $200 dollars . They sent me away with the engine light on, and the car making sounds and movements as if is going to go off anytime . Hyundai refused to help me although the engine lights are on and my car is still under warranty. I took the car that same day to Monro auto service at 64 north plank road ,Newburgh Ny 12550, and the checked the car and confirmed that there’s nothing wrong with the oil, or filters as the dealership try to implied , is an engine-firing problem that again, Hyundai dealership refuses to fix. | Aug 2025 | STRUCTURE | The sunroof glass exploded while traveling on the highway. The glass panel was closed shut about a minute before the incident. Small and large glass fragments entered the passenger cabin while traveling at highway speed. One large fragment caused a small laceration to the drivers arm. Another fragment struck the vehicle traveling behind and caused minor damage. Other large and small fragments landed on 2nd row passengers. There was no evidence of a foreign object or road debris causing this incident. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | ABS system malfunctions when traveling over bumps and applying brakes simultaneously. This condition happens intermittently and is found to be present in other automobiles of the same make and model. (Experienced in a rental vehicle). The result of this malfunction is the sensation of the abs system activating by the presence of vibration in the brake pedal. This occurs for a short duration, accompanied by a brief but significant decrease in braking performance. This condition almost caused a collision while entering a busy intersection. Dealer service advisor was notified but declared it to be normal. Also, a formal complaint was sent to the manufacturer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | SEAT BELTS | The second row seat belts will randomly unbuckle themselves while the car is in motion. As parents this is extremely concerning to us and we are worried about the safety of our children in the event of an accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
