| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Upon pressing the accelerator from a complete stop, the vehicle does not respond right away. The main incident was when traveling around 50 miles per hour on a highway, the van shifted into neutral on its own and the accelerator would not respond. An error message of transmission failure showed on the dash briefly. The van had to coast through traffic an eventually push off the road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | This is in relation to Investigation PE25008. The engine in my 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite failed at 91,307 miles due to a connecting rod bearing issue, despite perfect dealership maintenance. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while reversing, the back over prevention camera screen failed to display an image. The contact stated that the screen occasionally shut off unintendedly, and frequently disconnected from connected Bluetooth devices. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,750. | Crash: No Fire: No | 52,750 |
| Feb 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The front facing camera has stopped working. Anytime we turn the vehicle on we get multiple warning lights (lane assist, cruise control, bright lights, braking, etc) aren't working. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | The vehicle started running rough and the check engine light with other error lights were coming on the dashboard display. 1. Engine Failure due to connecting rod/bearings 2. Vehicle ran rough and struggled to start 3. Problem was reproduced and confirmed by dealer (as seen in attached invoice) 4. Vehicle has been inspected 5. No warning lamps or messages prior to incident Sortly after I replaced my engine (per dealer recommendation) Honda released a recall (NHTSA Recall No. : 23V-751) but said that my vehicle was not covered under -- even though it appeared to have the exact same issue as my vehicle... they said that the recall was only for a smaller set for engines produced as a specific manufacturing plant... and I believe that it is likely more wide spread. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Front camera is known to go out on these vans causing ACC, LKAS, Collision mitigation, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam, transmission problems and more. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | Rod bearing knock | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | Engine knock due to a spun bearing | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Vehicle lags in acceleration from a slow rolling start, at random times. There is a clear 1-2 second lag in the acceleration, then a sudden harsh shift into gear. Mostly happens during turns, and if traffic is present, may cause an accident. Also when traveling at low speeds 20-35 mph, there is a transmission jutter. Have spoken with service reps at dealerships and they claim to have no knowledge of these transmission issues | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | 2018 Honda Odyssey (10-speed automatic transmission) What happened: The vehicle is experiencing intermittent loss of reverse and delayed gear engagement from a stop. When shifting into reverse or drive, the engine revs but the vehicle does not immediately move, then jerks into gear. The issue is worse when cold. Warning lights / codes: Check Engine Light on. Honda dealer retrieved diagnostic trouble code P0763 – Shift Solenoid C Electrical. The code returned as a hard code after being cleared. Safety risk: The vehicle hesitates or fails to move when shifting into reverse or from a stop, creating a safety risk in traffic, parking situations, and when backing up. Current status: Diagnosed by Honda dealership. Repair recommended. Honda corporate case opened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | We turned the car on and got an ACC, LKAS, FCS, AHL errors due to the front sensor and the camera failing. This is an issue that many Honda owners are dealing with. The issue will not allow you to use cruise control and will disable 90% of the safety features we bought this vehicle for. The car drives fine but the safety of those in the car is affected by this error and needs to be recalled due to the number of complaints of this issue. There were no errors or warning signs prior to this happening. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Multiple warnings on dashboard due to windshield camera malfunction. Many vehicles of the same model have this problem. This is a part defect and should be recalled. Thank you | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | After I received a software update for my 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite the car has been stalling when idle. It is very dangerous because I will be at a stop light in drive, and the vehicle will shut off with no power. Cars will be behind me or no cars, and I have almost been rear ended. I did not have this problem until I received the new software update. It keeps occurring more and more often. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | My car needs a complete engine replacement due to "rod knock" or "bottom-end failures." It's my understanding that some Honda vehicles were recalled due to this (Recall 23V-751). And that there were other vehicles having issues beyond the scope of this recall (Query RQ24013). I'm disappointed because my Honda mechanic and independent mechanic have cited my impeccable service records and have told me there is nothing more I could have done. This feels fraudulent. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I own a 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite. While driving to ER for my daughter engine started making weird knocking sounds, when I stopped at a red light to turn left off the interstate Odyssey just died and began to smoke. My daughter and I were advised to get out of the vehicle for safety reasons, due to smoke. There was no warning lights or any other indication that the Odyssey had a problem. 911 was contacted fire and police responded, it was determined that engine reached max temperature. Odyssey was towed to Honda dealer for diagnostics, it was determined that connecting rod bearing was bad and long block needed to be replaced, starter also imploded and needed to be replaced. I contacted manufacturer to ask for a "Goodwill Repair" due to NHTSA Campaign Number 23V751000. Per manufacturer Honda would not offer any assistance for the engine repair even though recall matches exact part affected in the recall. All regular maintenance oil changes, 100,000 mile service, new tires, have been performed on the Odyssey. I can provide receipts and records. The failure mileage was 167,384. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | 2018 Odyssey EXL engine seized up at 111k miles. There's now a bunch of metal shavings in the oil. The engine will not turn over. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while stopped at a stop light and attempting to make a left turn on an exit, there was a knocking sound coming from the engine. The contact called 911 and the Fire Department; however, there was no fire. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine and starter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 167,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 167,000 |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | A rattle noise when initially pressing the accelerator pedal. When starting a vehicle, I had to press the start button multiple times. Kept stalling. All the lights on a dashboard started flashing. Saying check engine! We took it to the dealership and they confirmed engine problems. This was their diagnosis: Confirmed concern - found noise coming from engine internally due to CYL NO 2 rod knocking - oil heavily contaminated w/metal particles - recommend engine replacement! Mileage is only 93805. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My computer screen that has my radio and backup camera will black out randomly while I’m driving. There are times I can’t use it for a backup camera because it won’t cut on. I’m not able to control my heat and a/c when it goes blank too. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Since I own this vehicle, 3 times tailgate failed. I have done repair it twice in Honda dealership at Paramus NJ. Now it happened again after a year of last fix. Instrument cluster = Warning sign appears stays there. Somewhere on back = Constantly sound beeping - When driving Tailgate = Does not open and if open some how, it does not close. Neither automatic nor manually. I have to drive vehicle since I have no choice. I inspected all fuse in front under hood and in rear at cargo area. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | SUSPENSION | Vehicle: 2018 Honda Odyssey Component: Suspension – Rear Shock Absorbers Mileage at Failure: ~50,000 miles I am submitting this complaint to report a premature and potentially unsafe failure of the rear shock absorbers on my 2018 Honda Odyssey, as well as what appears to be a systemic defect affecting 2018–2024 Honda Odyssey vehicles. At approximately 50,000 miles, the rear shocks on my vehicle failed suddenly. Inspection revealed that the upper portion of the shock absorber housing had rusted completely through the metal, causing the internal hydraulic fluid to leak out and rendering the shock absorber inoperable. This is not surface corrosion—the metal housing itself failed structurally. The affected component is the factory-installed rear shock absorber, Honda part number 52610-THR-A02. Based on owner reports and service findings, this failure appears to be common across 2018–2024 Honda Odyssey models, typically occurring between 50,000 and 80,000 miles, often shortly after the factory warranty expires. Rear shock absorbers are sealed, safety-critical suspension components. They are not expected to rust through the metal housing or leak fluid within 6–7 years of normal use. This type of failure suggests a materials, coating, or design defect, rather than normal wear and tear. Failure of rear shocks can negatively impact vehicle stability, ride control, braking performance, and passenger safety, particularly in emergency maneuvers or adverse road conditions. Given that the Honda Odyssey is marketed as a family vehicle, this raises significant safety concerns. Due to the repeated nature of this failure across multiple model years, I believe this issue warrants investigation by NHTSA for a potential defect trend and consideration of corrective action. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | POWER TRAIN | The transmission failed at 108k miles. Honda is charging 10000USD for repair. They want to replace the 9 speed transmission. This transmission is notorious for failure and Honda hasn’t issued a recall yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The multipurpose camera failed showing lot of error codes. This affects the braking system putting my family and kids in risk. Honda is asking 2000$ to fix the camera. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The Tailgate Control Module failed due to water getting in to it from normal rain. There seems to be a leak in the seam and caused the failure. I took it to the shop and confirmed the failure, purchased a new control module and replaced the faulty one. I opened up the faulty one and it had water damage inside. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Camera projector fail and 6 warning ️ lights came on, very common issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
