Dec 2023 EXTERIOR LIGHTING Hi, I’ve noticed with this Jeep and the two newer cars before it would have my dash lit up when my headlights weren’t on. This is giving me and other drivers of these cars the false impression that my headlights must be on. So many folks are driving with either just fog lights or no lights at all because their dash is lit up. Before this technology your dash would be dim and that way you knew you needed to turn your headlights on. This is becoming so common I see 1-2 every day home from work. Before this new technology it was maybe 1 a year. Please research or ask around about this since there doesn’t seem to be regulation around it. Thanks very much! Dec 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER With less than 40k miles on my vehicle the leather dash on my Jeep has begun to delaminate. I'm concerned for the way this will impact the front passenger airbag to deploy in the event of a collision. Additionally this causes a viability issue due to the glare at certain times of the day when the sun is shining through the windshield and onto the dash.

Dec 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER UConnect navigation system shows current location as West Virginia but vehicle is in Missouri. If attempted to use or refer to onboard compass associated with system would result in significant driving direction/location mis-information. Software is current up to date for system; system is currently inoperable in this condition. Prior to this however navigation and compass were working correctly. Review of numerous Jeep online forums shows this navigation system failure to be quite common and likely requires complete radio/information system replacement. Why has no recall been issued?

Dec 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My touchscreen is delaminating. I can't use the radio, the Navigation system or interior climate control system. If the radio is turned on, it jumps from station to station, the phone system has called 911 several times, and dials random numbers from my contact list. This is a safety hazard because of the random dialing and distraction it causes. This condition is only happening on this model year. The product is defective and dangerous. I have owned 5 Jeeps in a row and never had this problem with the radio or touch screen.

Dec 2023 SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,EXTERIOR LIGHTING The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after turning the vehicle off, the brake lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the Hydraulic Control Unit was faulty and needed to be reprogramed. The Hydraulic Control Unit was reprogrammed under NHTSA Campaign: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) but the failure persisted. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

Dec 2023 ENGINE The head gasket gets blown with 50,000 miles for the 2018 grand jeep Cherokee high altitude. Went to jeep dealership in Downey and they said they knew it would be the head gasket they had other jeeps in the shop with that same problem, but wanted to charge 5000 just to confirm. So then we went to a mechanic in Los Angeles and they had 5 other 2018 jeeps in the shop with the same problem. The 2018 jeep grand Cherokee 3.6L is having so many problems with the head gasket at such low miles this needs to be recalled! How is it a good supposedly reliable car is breaking down so early. This is a SAFETY ISSUE IT can cause a fire !!!!

Dec 2023 AIR BAGS The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, her daughter closed the driver's door and the passenger's side frontal air bag deployed inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag needed to be replaced due to the rollover sensor being alerted. The contact stated that the vehicle was not in an accident. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Dec 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The uConnected display screen mal-functions to the point of being a dangerous distraction. Phantom jumping between radio stations, switching from AC to heat etc, changes other controls and will not allow use of touch systems. The screen shows obvious signs of de-lamination. I noted that many others are have the same issue with their uConnect displays. Super dangerous. Dealer' CSR said "Sorry, not their problem. Said it must've gotten wet". Since then I have learned this is a common problem with all Jeeps of this era. Mine is a 2018. Is there anything NHTSA is doing to recall these? It's dangerous and we have stopped driving unless absolutely necessary.

Dec 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The display screen in the center of the dashboard is delaminating. This is very dangerous becasue it randomly changes all the settings constantly. heat on/off, radio on/off anything that has a touch button on the screen (which is just about everything for that car) can randomly change at any time. It is getting worse as time goes on. This is a safety issue. When looking online I see this is very common for 2018 Jeeps, but is not a recall. It is a safety issue and should be a recall it is happening to so many 2018 Jeeps.

Dec 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My UConnect radio has been malfunctioning for a few months now. I've seen this on Jeep forums being a major issue with 2018 jeeps. My radio stations would randomly change while driving. The volume know would stop working, my Navigation stopped working and would place my location in a completely different state. Last week, while driving my UConnect would randomly turn on the AC and then switch to heat and then turn it off, and then switch between modules. The Sunday after Thanksgiving, I was driving my parents to the airport using the GPS on my phone but connecting it to Apple Car Play so that I could still see the navigation on the UConnect Screen. While driving and coming up to multiple lanes in which their were different highways to take, my Uconnect starts going haywire. It was completely nervewracking and was super distracting. My parents were in the car and were very frightened as I wasn't sure which lane I was supposed to be in and where to go. I had to grab my phone, unlcock it and look at my phone. Very dangerous! Then the other night as I was driving on the highway, I had my Front and Rear Defroster on as the weather called for this and all of sudden, the defroster shuts off and the AC (Max AC) comes on at full blast. My front windshield fogged up super quickly. I turned on my wipers and literally starting moving lanes to the right lane as I was frantically pushing the controls to get it back to defrost. I could have died by going off the road as I could not see where I was going or if there were any cars! Thankfully, I rolled down the windows, slowed down and found the breakdown line by hearing the safety strip under my tires. I put on my hazards and prayed. I know I need a new UConnect, but all the dealers want to charge me $170 or more just to diagnose the vehicle. I don't want it diagnosed..I want it fixed. And this should not be my responsibility to fix something that is a huge safety concern. Please contact me ASAP.

Dec 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES All three brake lights stayed illuminated during car operation regardless of brake pedal pressed. I was able to shift and start my car without pressing the brake putting my family and other pedestrians at risk of being run over if the car shifted out of park unexpectedly. Also no warning lights were on at all, so I drove on the road with my brake lights illuminated increasing risk for injury or death in a crash. It turns out the part is a hydraulic control unit. It was reading 120psi when the pedal wasn’t even pressed. This was replaced by an independent shop and fixed the issue. I found out that there was a recall done on 2011-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokees. This recall was “Equipment Safety Recall 21A NHTSA 23E-019”. This recall calls out this exact problem for our exact model and the exact part replaced. My vehicle did not qualify for this recall for some reason which does not make sense because of the following information. The Julian date range for the failed part is 8166-9106. The part pulled out of my vehicle has a Julian date of 8228. I am more than willing to provide photos and any documentation showing this repairs high cost and that it was done. There needs to be another recall with these cars to include mine and many others as this issue could cause death of unsuspecting people around the vehicle. It’s ridiculous that my vehicle did not qualify for this recall when I have an obviously failed part that FCA knows about but refuses to fix or reimburse me for. Please investigate this and enact a recall to fix a problem that was bad enough to be recalled once for another batch of cars. There are other cars out there that could cause death or serious injury.

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I was just driving down the freeway and out of nowhere. My jeep started calling and hanging up and recalling everybody in my frequently called list. I tried turning off the screen, but it turned itself back on and started doing it again. Everybody who I just called over and over unintentionally. We’re trying to call me back, but it would hang up on them. It was as if a ghost was in my screen. I have not had this looked at by the dealership, but upon researching the issue it appears this is a common problem in the 2018 jeep grand Cherokee. My hands are still shaking from the incident as it was extremely unsafe and distracting. It all startled me so bad I almost drove off the road. It would’ve been one thing if I could’ve just turned it off, but the fact that I kept turning itself back on, is very disconcerting. I tried turning white screen. It was on to the radio, and then it kept changing stations on its own rapidly and repeatedly.

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The monitor/screen is delaminating. This is causing the screen to go haywire. It asks me if I want to adjust my clock setting every couple seconds which makes using the screen for anything else impossible; at times I can't adjust my heat, use the navigation system, etc. This is a known issue per numerous Jeep forums I've visited where hundreds of people are having the same issue with a defective screen on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees, but Jeep still hasn't done a recall.

Nov 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Dash cover separating/bubbling from dash panel as if the adhesive under cover is releasing. My bigger concern is if the airbag had to deploy it would take/pull the entire cover of the dash instead of blowing out from its designed location possibly hindering the airbags effectiveness and safety. I know a similar recall has been issued in the past on previous model years that was a concern for this very thing.

Nov 2023 STRUCTURE The bolt that holds the liftgate motor on top snapped in half with trying to open. I used the button on the remote to open the lift gate. I heard a loud pop noise as it was trying to open then when I finally got it open I noticed the bolt was snapped in half. Luckily the bolt broke going up not down. If it had broken going down it could have landed on my head or one of my kids. I have reported it to the jeep dealership where I purchased my vehicle from a little over a year ago. There was no warnings prior to opening the hatch. I did some research to see if this has happen to other people and it has. Some people where not as lucky as me and had it fall on there head. The website i found this at was [XXX] and then found out the dodge durango has the same issue and the website for that is [XXX] I really hope this gets fixed and recalled before people start getting injured. It is such a small bolt for a heavy door. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS,VISIBILITY/WIPER 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Radio screen delamination, causing heating/defrost/seats/clock reset/radio channels cycling quickly, lack of navigation on screen. Very distracting when traveling/trying to reach the hospitals. At first it was very distracting while traveling, and didn't allow me to use any features/controls, and could've easily took my eyes off the road and have an accident. I can't use the radio when I need to, for certain situations, not just entertainment but location as I travel with work at times, and my wife and I both frequent hospitals with my heart issues and her lower GI issues. It just started appearing late in July 2023 and you can see something under the radio screen as if its a sticker/protective cover on the radio and it looks like its separating from the inside. I have it going into the shop for diagnosis 11/29/2023 but it is continually getting worse to where I can't use the radio/nav/comfort features at all and need to for our safety/travel, and winter is rapidly approaching.

Nov 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION Hello, There is a few things going on with this vehicle, this is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 27k miles. Uploading recalls on this vehicle. 1. It has a fuel leak, this is a vehicle that does not have a gas cap, it has been fully diagnosed by the dealer, they want to charge $900.00 to repair plus a $250.00 diagnostic fee. 2. Car would not move, stopped abruptly, had to turn car on and off while in traffic in order to get car going, almost causing an accident. 3. Car will tell you its about to hit another car when it's not and will turn on and off while driving, almost causing an accident. Dealer does not want to take a look at the car unless you pay them $250.00, want to keep the car for a week and does not want to provide a car rental while car is under their diagnostic phase. Dealer assessing the car is Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram at 13355 SW 137th Ave, Miami, FL 33186, spoke to Lazaro Varas, assistant service manager. Please guide me on what to do, thank you. Nov 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER My Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit was purchased new in 2018. I am the only owner and primary driver. In early 2020 I noticed some bubbling with the leather of the dashboard. It continued to bubble up a little at a time until today, November 7, 2023 it is so bubbled up that the delaminated leather blocks the air vent that defrosts my windsheild; blocks completely any possibility of warm air reaching the windshield wipers. In freezing weather conditions this becomes very dangerous. I was driving in a blizzard down the freeway with very low visibility. The only way I could see anything was to have the wipers going at full speed. Because they were not receiving any warm air from the defrost vents they froze up in the closed position and would not move. Due to freeway traffic and conditions I could not pull over but I could not see. I nearly rear ended a vehicle in front of me and could not see to trade lanes and try to pull off. I was able to roll down my window, grab and flip the wiper to get it moving WHILE DRIVING. My front passenger was able to do the same and we continued to drive this way with our windows down until we could pull off. Other drivers with functioning dashboards where the warm air was reaching the wiper area as intended were not having the same problem I was. The delaminated leather is also a problem because my windshield will not defog on the lower half and visibility can be very poor. This may not be as big a hazard but still is a hazard because of the reduced visibility.

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The Uconnect screen is delaminating and malfunctioning. I am unable to control what the screen randomly touches which includes controlling the temperature in the car. I am not able to properly set the temperature and direction of the heat to defog my windshield while driving. It creates a hazard while driving when my windows fog up and I can't see while driving on the expressway going 50mph.
