Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,LANE DEPARTURE The UConnect display on my vehicle is phantom pressing buttons, going to different screens, turning things on and off as I drive. Yesterday, I was put in a EXTREMELY unsafe situation with my vehicle where the UConnect screen turned off my blind spot detection. I was unaware until I attempted to merge into another lane and hit another car!!! I called UConnect and Jeep and they told me they won’t do anything because I’m not the first owner of the car and that it can’t be replaced but for 1,000 of dollars. I feel like this should be repaired by Courtesy because this is a safety issue.

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The screen on the infotainment system starts starts clicking randomly by itself, causing a huge distraction while driving. It started three years into ownership of the vehicle, which I purchased brand new, when I noticed a bubble and occasionally would click random buttons by itself. The bubble is now bigger and the random clicks happen 100% of the time as soon as the car is turned on. It will randomly call people, or change my location while using the navigation, which I have to click the relocate button. This will go on forever until I turn off the screen, therefore I have to use my phone. There are plenty of complaints from other Jeep users with the same issue. The cause is the screen adhesive delaminates. This is a huge safety issue that needs to get fix asap. Unfortunately, Jeep charges a lot of money to replace a defective unit.

Jun 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My radio has failed just 4 years 2 months after purchase. It skips all over the place and then the navigation comes on without me engaging it and it is a huge distraction when I am trying to concentrate on the road. I bought this vehicle brand new!!! Now I’m scared to death driving it with all these distractions especially on a very busy highway.

Jun 2022 AIR BAGS The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, she rear-ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact hit her head and her left leg on the steering wheel. The other driver was treated at the scene for unknown injuries. The contact sought medical attention at the hospital; no injuries were treated. A police report was filed. The contact was instructed by the police officer that she was able to drive the vehicle home; however, several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. As she attempted to resume normal driving, the vehicle downshifted upon the depression of the accelerator pedal; she then pulled over and had the vehicle towed to her home. The next day, the vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic; but was then towed to a second independent mechanic by her insurance where the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and an investigation was performed on the vehicle; the investigation concluded that since the brakes were depressed, the vehicle was not traveling at a rate of speed for the airbags to deploy. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS Screen first started delaminating after 2 years / 18000 miles, but remained functioning so didn't act at the time. This week (3.5 years / 31000 m) while on a roadtrip the touch screen started randomly 'pushing' options on the screen. It started heating the seats, dialled 911 and started changing the navigation, all while I was on the highway with no way to exit. Had to make an emergency stop alongside the highway where it was not safe to stop but could not disable the screen or stop it from dialing random phone numbers. Had to break off my vacation and turn back home. Car is now in the shop (Jeep Kearny Mesa San Diego) for diagnosis. Service specialist tells me it could be a 3000 dollar repair out of pocket. I bought this car new at this dealership, but if this is not covered I'll not buy FCA again.

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The radio/phone/climate control display is de-laminating, and I'm starting to get "ghost" presses which can accidentally make phone calls, adjust the climate control, etc. This can cause distracted driving. This is being reported widely online and dealerships are aware of the issue. https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/ https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/uconnect-delaminating.4439701/

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My Jeep Grand Cherokee (2018) Unlimited has a screen delamination issue where underneath the LCD screen there's a liquid leaks out causing phantom touches on the screen resulting in various apps and settings get opened and changed. This seriously caused safety issues as the settings get changed and distract the driver. Random phone calls would be placed, map settings would change and redirect. I have researched on various Jeep forums and there are also multiple cases of Jeep owners who encounter similar issues. This is a safety concern and Jeep should issue a recall to fix the issue. I also believe this is an issue across multiple products from FCA. Here are the links to issues being reported by Jeep Owners: https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/page-11#post-2021336035 https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/radio-screen.236450/#post-2021335380 https://digitizerdepot.com/blogs/posts/delamination-and-bubbling-peeling-of-8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-is-a-major-problem-on-chrysler-dodge-jeep-and-ram-vehicles https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/uconnect-delaminating.4439701/ https://www.ramforum.com/threads/8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-delaminating.162663/ Thank you for your reading and understanding. This is frustrating as Jeep ignores such a widespread issues, especially this is a safety concern. Joe

Jun 2022 SEATS The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while seated in the driver’s seat with the engine off, the driver’s seat headrest deployed without warning. The contact was struck in the head by the headrest but was not injured. The contact called the dealer and was given an appointment for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Jun 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Digitizer malfunction almost caused an accident. While driving down the highway it turned the radio on full blast, started calling random people, playing games. It wouldn't respond to driver input. Nearly caused an accident as I was so startled by the loud noise, then scrambling to try to turn it off. Now all hands-free functions have to disabled because I have to keep Uconnect unit and bluetooth turned off. I've researched online and find likely caused by screen delamination, and that it's happening to many people - SOR 997163

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While driving on highway climate control temperature kept switching, and would not allow me to put defroster on making visibility increasingly difficult. Also the vehicles screen will randomly display the backup camera while driving at high speeds. This is all due to a known lamination issue with this model jeep.

Jun 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER When I brought the vehicle to Florida the screen on the navigation system delaminated. It causes the navigation screen to make random phone calls when it’s turned on and it also will not display the navigation map in a way that is usable. It is a defect caused by the heat- there were no issues until I brought the car to FL. Additionally, when it’s cool outside, the system can be used even with the screen being delaminated. But as soon as it heats up it is not usable and actually is dangerous because the random phone calls while driving is very distracting.

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER About a week ago my screen started pushing/clicking/changing screens by itself. The screen is going crazy, switching calls, randomly calling people, scrolling through contacts, pushing buttons all over the place, changing songs, turning seat warmers off and on. I took this to my dealership and they confirmed it was a defect in the radio and to replace it would cost me over $1,000. After more research it turns out there are many other people with this same problem for the 2018 model jeeps. This is a serious safety concern as you're trying to drive down the road and can't pay attention because all sorts of buttons are randomly being pushed and the screen is going crazy back and forth to other screens. I would hope that Jeep would correct this issue at their expense as it is a defect on their end and causing serious safety concerns to not just me but other drivers with the same issue.

May 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The radio screen is constantly blinking on and off, making phone calls through my connection with my phone - without being prompted, and flashing constantly turning the audio on and off, adjusting the seat controls, adjusting the audio volume. I am unable to power it off, because it turns itself back on. It's extremely unsafe and distracting to the driver. Every electronic thing in the car is controlled through this and I am unable to control it at all. This is all called by the delamination of the screen, a known problem to Jeep, and I have reached out to them with concerns. They are unwilling to voluntarily recall or repair or replace the radio. I have almost had multiple accidents while trying to power off the loud, flashing, problematic screen - not to mention that I am unable to control the seat and temperature controls, among other things.

May 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The screen display spontaneously jumps around erratically as if you are touching the screen. Others have reported this as screen "delamination". Without warning and not touching anything else in the vehicle the screen jumps radio stations, from AM to FM to SXM, or changes the temperature controls, flips through the applications screens, and has even shown the backup camera while driving. It is random, and therefore not able to recreate. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. The only "indicator" was a corner of the display looking like a protective layer was peeling off within a year or so of purchase. This area has continued to grow from the upper right of the screen downward and to the left. Perhaps better explained by picturing water seeping through under glass. Car was purchased in fall of 2017. It is extremely distracting while driving as radio stations change quickly as what is being displayed jumping all over the place. I

May 2022 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the engine was overheating. Additionally, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was notified of a failure with cylinder #5. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as needed; however, the sensor software update failed to perform as needed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

May 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The Uconnect system is malfunctioning. This seems to be a manufacturing defect, which is known to be quite common in Chrysler vehicles. The problem causes their navigation system to be inoperable, the system to dial 911 voluntarily, the back up camera to be inoperable at times, the climate control to be inoperable as well as various other issues which have become a safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The problem has been reported to the dealer as well as well as confirmed by the dealer.

May 2022 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE The vehicle stalled while driving on a busy road. It sounded like it couldn’t shift gears. It also accelerated once I tried to move it to a safer location on the side of the road. It was very scary not knowing if I could get out of the stalling situation in the middle of traffic. The unexpected acceleration upon trying to park it safely was also terrifying.

May 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The UConnect/Infotainment screen is delaminating, causing 'ghost' and random changes to the the hands-free functionality while driving, overriding driver selections and causing potentially unsafe driving. May 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The center 8.5" Information/Entertainment touch screen is delaminating. The delamination is creating "ghosting" of the system causing cycling through various screens and applications. This is VERY distracting and dangerous by removing eyes off the road to see what is happening. If navigating with built-in Nav or via external (Apple Play), the ghosting changes destinations, cancels navigation and/or changes displays. When occurring at key turn points, diverts driver focus from the road to the screen. If they system is in radio, the ghosting will cycle through every radio station randomly, distracting from the road and creating distracting noise/sound. I have mentioned this to two separate Jeep dealers. They state it occurred out of warranty and it will cost me over $1000 to fix it. I am on a Jeep forum where this is happening to many other 2018 8.5" touchscreen systems.

May 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The jeeps radio failed that controls safety features in the vehicle this was caused by a delaminating touch screen. The touch screen would select options on its own including safety and driving settings due to this defect. It is widely posted about in 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles with this display. Mopar customer support denied the claim to reimburse me for the radio because I was not the original owner. As the second owner, ive been put in a financial loss for a 1,000 dollar radio that controls all the safety features in the vehicle.
