Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Sep 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The touchscreen radio panel is delaminating and causing the system to freak out. Sometimes the radio will turn on by itself and blare out music, or all of the fans will turn on turbo at once. The navigation will freak out and turn off and it will auto-dial or auto-hang up phone calls. Sometimes when I am driving down the high way, the air or radio blasting from out of nowhere and totally unprompted will scare me and cause me to jerk the steering wheel or become significantly distract from the road. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the dealer, and it is a known defect, but they will not take responsibility for the safety hazard or the cost of replacement. No inspection by any outside parties, yet. No warning signs.. the screen just started to melt/delaminate and then all of the ghost features began causing chaos while driving.

Aug 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS,BACK OVER PREVENTION I was driving to work with the heated seat on. I began to feel my lower back getting extremely hot. I leaned forward and when I did I could smell something burning and my back began to burn. I quickly pulled over and jumped out of the car as quickly as possibly to see that my seat had physical flame coming from it. I contacted Jeep about the situation and was ultimately told it was somehow not a manufacturing issue. In addition to the seat fire my touch screen has completely delaminated and sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Making it a safety hazard with the back up camera only showing when screen is operational. The screen also does things on its own. Changing radio stations, blasting radio volume, turning on/off. This is extremely distracting while driving.

Aug 2024 STRUCTURE The glue of the dashboard has caused the leather on the dashboard to bubble on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I brought it to the jeep dealership, and they said it happens all the time from the sun. Its a known defect, but its not covered by the extended warranty. They said they have had recalls on this in the past with other years and models, but not this year/model yet. I reached out to Jeep Cares and Chrysler, but neither will help.

Jul 2024 VISIBILITY The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear glass fractured without impact. The contact's minor children were seated in the rear seat when the failure occurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

Jul 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The stereo system screen began delaminating approximately 1 year ago. The delamination causes the stereo to malfunction, make sounds, and cause a major distraction when driving. It has come to my knowledge that this is a very frequent issue in the 2018 Grand Cherokees. There were no warning messages, the screen just glitches and completely malfunctions which is making it dangerous to drive and manage simultaneously.

Jul 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER this is a known jeep problem. the radio screen which controls not only the radio but other systems including ac/heat/defrost is delaminating and randomly clicks all over the screen. jeep is refusing to fix this known manufacturing defect because i am not the original owner. this is a very significant safety issue because a lot of the controls are via the screen including putting it into tow mode. it is also very distracting when driving and could lead to serious injury or death. this has been an ongoing issue since i purchased the vehicle and is getting worse. please advise.

Jul 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES While driving, all the light on the dashboard come on. When this happens the speedometer is not working the windshield wipers come on. The emergency brake light is on, the car shifts out of gear and the turning signals don't work and the hazard lights won't work. This is all happening at the same time. I'm unable to inform people on the road that I'm in distress because my hazard light won't work I don't know how fast or slow I'm going. I can't inform the people on the road that I want to change lanes. Then after a while all the lights on the dashboard would go out and the check engine light would remain on for maybe two days and than go out. This problem has been going on since January I have paid thousands of dollars attempting to get this problem fixed. My car has been back and forth to the same Chrysler central Ave dealership where I purchased my 2018 jeep grand Cherokee to which I'm still paying for.

Jul 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I bought a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee limited on July 1,2024. A week after owning the vehicle the jeep kept shutting off while driving on the interstate and the dash said “ put in P and push to start” none of the hazard lights came on. It just automatically shut off in the middle of traffic multiple times and when put into park and tried to restart it would take several attempts. This is unsafe and I’m lucky I did not get into an accident since the vehicle is just turning off while I’m driving on a busy highway not to mention almost getting into an accident since I’m given no warning. I dropped off my jeep at the dealership and they have had it for two weeks stating they can not find any issues with the vehicle. This is frustrating and scary and do not even feel comfortable driving a the jeep that I owned for one week. I have read several complaints in the same issue and k won’t seems to be able to find what is causing this issue.

Jul 2024 ENGINE Car dealer said that they already fixed the recalled issue. But we took car to the dealer also for car overheating in very short distances and the car only has about 67,300 miles. The dealer said that they "found stored DTC in PCM" P0304(Cylinder #4 Misfire). "There are combustion gases in cooling system." They said the car needed cylinder head replacement and engine replacement quoting me $8001.88 for repairs which I could not pay. The car has only been driven locally. We also suspect that this car may have been damaged by hurricane Michael in Florida in 2018 and damage may have not been reported. Car was bought in Florida in approx. September 2018 by owner 1 who sold the car to owner 2 with only approx. 2500mi after Hurricane Michael (Oct 9-10th). The car was sold to owner 2 in November 2018 in Florida then brought to California in 2021 and sold to owner 3 who is making this report. Or car may have already presented mechanical issues that may not been reported. Car has only been driven locally.

Jul 2024 ENGINE The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power intermittently. Additionally, the contact observed a burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Jul 2024 ENGINE Car began to shake after looking under the hood found low coolant. After replacing the coolant it continued to run low only after 1 week. After second time replacing coolant engine light came on and it was taken to a mechanic who had codes come up as misfires. After replacing spark plugs and full tune up, engine light came back on. After taking it to a dealership they found a crack in the gasket at coolant passage. Car never over heated for the crack to have happened. Also seeing many other people with the same issue at the same mileage of 72k mile or less. I believe there is an issue with the head gasket.

Jun 2024 EXTERIOR LIGHTING,LANE DEPARTURE Driving home on dark, deserted roads, my brights will not click on. When I click, nothing happens. When I hold the turner back in the mode to “flash my brights”, the bright headlights will come on. I had to drive holding this back almost an hour so I could see. I had a mechanic look and he said the switch is wired to the computer, so it is not an easy fix, but will have to go to the dealership. This is a safety issue. Dealerships are far from me and expensive. I’ve never had this issue with a vehicle before, when all lights are functioning. It should be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer.

Jun 2024 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start-up as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a failure with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. The contact was informed that the EGR valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.

Jun 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM At around 66,861 miles my car started to do a weird shaking, slowing down on highway, rattling, and missing. I brought to dealer and they stated I needed an EGR valve replacement. This was done yet the code did not reset and the problem happened again. Now, I’m told well my vehicle needs an egr cooler!??? What is this? And why was this not communicated to me before I had the work done. Also, why would this malfunction so fast. This was July 18, 2022. There are no recalls but there should be with this happening so soon? I have children and this is scary on the highway.
