May 2024 SEATS While I was driving home from work the headrest deployed and hit me on the back of the head. I thought that I was hit from behind due to how my head jerk forward. When I inspected the headrest to try and reset it back to the normal position but realized that the plasitc clip had snapped off. In searching online I noticed that others were having the same issue. The vehicle did not and currently does not have any warning lights turned on.

May 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I replaced the auxiliary battery, the main battery and the alternator, and my car is still losing power. I think that the voltage regulator that regulates how much power the battery gets is the actual issue. My car was manufactured in October 2017. Why wasn’t it apart of the original recall? I want this fixed. I shouldn’t have had to shell this money out when it’s a manufacturer’s defect.
Incident: May 2024
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
May 2024 SEATS Crash safety feature in the headrest deployed on its own. Dealer verified the headrest deployed but Jeep is refusing to repair/replace the unit. Jeep has a limited recall on this problem already but says my vehicle doesn't qualify (see attached). Dealer charged $209 for evaluation and wants an additional $290 to repair the headrest.

May 2024 ENGINE Jeep would not start. No warning lights. Towed to the mechanic. Mechanic said starter needed to be replaced. Once the starter was replaced the mechanic noted whitish smoke from exhaust when starting the Jeep. Further diagnosis he determined the Jeep needed a head gasket replacement. As other Jeep owners have stated this came with no warning. This is a safety issue in part because the vehicle is unable to start leaving the drivers potentially started in unsafe conditions. Jeep needs to post a recall for this issue. Please advise next steps?

May 2024 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The computer system keeps intermittently saying the turn signal bulbs are out turning off the front signal when you want to use it. The bulbs are a bunch of LED’s in the headlight and it shouldn’t turn off all of them even if one is out (they are all working properly regardless). It seems to be a fault within the computer system either inside the headlight assembly or in the car.

May 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The infotainment center is defective and "ghost touches" all over the screen. This is a hazard when driving as the volume will be turned all the way up or the screen changes off of navigation mode to something else. Additionally, random phone calls will be made or if I'm on the phone, the call will be ended from the random touches. This ultimately results in distracted driving. The UConnect and CarPlay features are designed to minimize distracted driving, however this is simply counterproductive with the screen deficiencies.

The contact stated that when the seat belt was manually retracted and the passenger moved forward, the seat belt failed to lock properly. No warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was made aware of the failure and the part was ordered; however, the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 195,000.

May 2024 SEAT BELTS Passenger outer seat belt/retractor failed to retract. The belt has to be manually ratcheted back. Licensed repair shop removed & inspected mechanism for obstruction. Found no cause for failure, out of vehicle retracts properly. In a sudden stop the front passenger is not protected as the belt does not lock or retract without manual procedure. No warning lamps or codes. Contacted local dealership Service department for possible recall or customer satisfaction bulletin & was told that nothing was available for vehicle. Replacement part is on national backorder with no ETA according to local dealership Parts department. Hundreds of units are on backorder leading me to conclude that the manufacturer is aware of a safety issue but has not provided a resolution to consumers

May 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine block and head are warped. Radio station keeps jumping to random station when I'm not even touching it. Auto On/Off light goes on intermittently. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could be a failure and engine lock up had I not taken it in when first troubles came about. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes and I'm told the one dealership has 3 THREE other vehicles the same make and model with the same issue! I've also read on forums that many other people have this affect theirs as well. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Check engine light went on a few times, diagnosis showed multiple misfires in the cylinder. White smoke from the exhaust and vehicle shook and acted like it was going to stall upon starting.

Apr 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER There is a clear goo dripping out of the radio screen. This radio screen controls everything in my vehicle air, heat navigation, emergency calls, etc. is safety issue as it jumps everywhere, calls 911. Changes Channels on its own turns on heat and ac on its own. This is a safely issue as it distracts me from focusing on driving. Jeep won’t replace it.

Apr 2024 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Intermittent extended crank on cold starts and developed a misfire in cylinder 3 and the developed a misfire and coolant leak in cylinder 1. The dealer told me it needs a new engine due to internal engine failure. Codes p0303 and p0300. Engine only has 62,000 on it.

Apr 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The screen in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee which controls everything (radio, navigation, climate controls, etc.) is delaminating. This causes the screens to constantly change and override all driver selections. This is a significant safety concern and has become extremely distracting while driving. I am surprised that this has not been a safety recall, as there have been many class action investigations. This is a known manufacturing issue especially in the 2018 models.
