| May 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 8.4” unconnect touch screen radio is bubbling. This bubbling causes the touch screen to select randomly. It will change climate control setting, screen settings, turn the radio on, turn seat heaters on, manipulate the navigation system. This becomes a large distraction while on the road and is extremely dangerous. This is a known issue with these radios in several Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler/Ram models. We have taken the vehicle to the dealer and asked for this safety issue to be addressed. They have responded that we are responsible to fix at our own cost. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| May 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My communication screen started to delaminate and causes ghost touching. I can be driving along and the radio plays or changes stations, it has dialed contacts, etc. without me touching the screen. When it happens it requires special attention such as trying to cancel a call being made or turning off the radio. Online searches seem to indicate this is a common issue with Jeeps and Chrysler products around the model year 2018. Naturally, the car company is hands off but my research suggested informing NHTSA as you may want to monitor how often this happens. Thank you. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The uconnect system has been malfunctioning. The uconnect system has all functions for radio, climate control, system functions, Phone, backup camera, gps, etc. the system started randomly making phone calls, switching radio channels, wanting to connect or disconnect devices, displaying the rear view camera and gps screen jumping around giving misleading directions all occurring while driving. We took the car in to see if it can be fixed. Jeep dealer advised a new system was needs at a cost of $1500. Jeep is unwilling to correct the condition without replacing the unit but there is no guaranty the issue won’t reappear. Most recently there was a software push that will not load due the internal system error. Creating another distraction with a recurring error code popping up due to update failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Edition. The laminate is coming away from the radio screen and it keeps showing an "adjust clock message" and "morse code" like beeping. It is a complete distraction. Due to the laminate coming away from the screen the unit starts overriding the driver choices, like the handsfree features, radio, heated seats, etc. This is a safety issue with the car controlling things the driver should be. It's been going on now for a month. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The LG Screen in the dashboard is delaminating and causing the radio and various bluetooth functions to go haywire. The radio stations change and dance across the screen, the temperature in the car changes without my touching it, and phone calls are initiated totally on their own without my involvement. This is highly distracting while driving. I'm told by the dealership who services my vehicle that the screen plus the electronic components all have to be replaced to the cost of over $1,000 and that it is not covered under the 100,000 mile warranty I have on the vehicle. I've researched this problem online and have discovered that many cars/SUVs have this issue and apparently it is due to a faulty LG screen. I found this in chat groups and have not independently verified it. I am writing to your administration to request you look into this issue and if it is as widespread as it appears to be, I think you should consider the safety aspects of the distraction this causes and recall the LG screen and associated components. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Control screen is delaminating causing ghost controls and making it impossible to adjust or turn on/off climate controls- AC, heating, dehumidifier… making it UNSAFE to drive. The contact noticed that the recall stated that the repair would take 30 or more minutes however, the dealer completed the repair within 10 minutes. The failure persisted the gear shifter failed to display the correct gear that the vehicle had been shifted into. Additionally, the fuel level indicator failed to provide the correct fuel level in the vehicle. The contact also stated that the windshield wipers would activate independently on occasions. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit and ABS needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. | Apr 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The uconnect screen started to delaminate, causing the screen to push buttons and make selections all on its own. While driving on the highway the screen start beeping loudly and wouldn’t stop as it was “ghost” pressing buttons on the screen and I could not get it under control. You can’t use any of the features of the screen because of the “ghost” pressing. I have no more access to the backup camera, no access to navigation and will need to rely on a mobile device. This is a common issue for many uconnect vehicles and should require a recall for replacement. I was never given a warning, it just started beeping and flashing screens while driving which was distracting and unsafe. The vehicle is no longer under warranty, so I would have to pay for this clearly a recall issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Apr 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The touch screen on the info-tainment head unit is delaminating which is causing the screen to register touches that did not occur. These "ghost" touches are resulting in the head-unit changing settings, starting navigation without prompt, and making phone calls. The un-prompted phone calls has been particularly distracting as there is no means to hang up and has forced me to the side of the road several times to try and end the call. On occasion, the system has made calls to 911 without me prompting it. These incidents have made driving with the head unit operating un-safe | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Mar 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Screen delamination of the connect screen has started causing severe ghost touching. Making the system useless and distracting. Unable to use handsfree systems, navigation, radio, or access vehicle settings including the jack mode for the air suspension. On my vehicle it has not been diagnosed by the dealer but this is a known and common issue with this system for 2018 and 2019 and fca\stellantis needs to be forced into a recall for this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | ENGINE | Jeep issued a recall for the high pressure fuel pump on our 2018 Grand Cherokee about a year ago and a redesigned fuel pump by Bosch is still not available. I am unable to travel out of state for fear that the fuel pump will fail possibly causing a crash or leaving me stranded at my own expense. Why have a recall if the manufacturer can just ignore it and start discontinuing the product which Jeep has started to do at the beginning of 2023. Repeated attempts to get service from Jeep for the recall have resulted in the message no parts available. What is NHTSA doing about this recall? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 55,575 miles was parked in a parking garage all day in Brooklyn NY and when the vehicle was move to the front of the garage by parking attendants the engine started smoking and caught fire. There were no leaks, dashboard symbols or open recalls to cause the fire; additionally the car was linked to a iPhone App CarRx that can scan for any issue and no issue noted. This engine fire not only put all of the other vehicles in the park garage at risk of catching fire but the parking garage sits under a luxury apartment building putting the working and residents at risk. Additionally I commute between Brooklyn and NJ 3x a week and cant imagine what would have happened if I was driving the vehicle over the Brooklyn Bridge, on the Brooklyn Queens Express or in the Holland Tunnel during high commuter rush hour traffic. Car was checked out by a Jeep Dealership who confirm fire was not caused by any leaks or electrical issue but did mentioned it seems to have started around the engine air cleaner. The current status of the issue has been an open investigation with Jeep Corporate for going on the 3rd week with no communication or updates on status. The entire issue and fire from pulling into the garage to the when the car was moved to it smoking and catching fire is all documented on security video. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |

Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear tires locked up inadvertently, without the brake pedal being depressed. The contact stated that there was a pulsation coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact believed that the failure was associated with an unknown recall. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS control module and the hydraulic control module (HCU) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. | Mar 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,ENGINE | There is an electrical failure that causes the blinkers to stop working, shortly after noticing this issue the vehicle will fail to start after travelling to my destination. This has happened more than twice and there are no recalls shown for the "Limited" version of this vehicle. The standard edition seems to have confirmed recalls for the same issues that the Limited version is experiencing. A mechanic has described an electrical short circuit. I encourage looking into the different models of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in which you'll definitely find the same safety issues described online by many others. These repairs need to be addressed and repaired by the manufacturer. Thank you! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
