| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Ghost touch in the radio display, crazy touching, the Uconnect almost caused an accident while driving on the interstate when it started making phone calls and would not let me hang up. I could not even get into the settings to tell it to disconnect from my phone. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC | The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Was making a left turn and the vehicle lost power mid turn. It has done this once before while I was driving straight. The car does not shut off or sputter. On this occasion I pushed the start button to cut the car off and restarted and it was fine however I could have been hit because the car lost power as if it was in neutral or another gear while I was turning on a protected flashing yellow. The previous time when it randomly lost power when I was driving. I put it in park, then drive and it was fine but I was on a busy street when this happened and could have been rear ended. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving the radio system began having glitches where it would say it was calling or texting on its own. We would reset the radio and it would seem to correct itself and start working again. A few weeks later the issue became worse. The electronic system really began to malfunction. The car would call SOS several times in a row, typically they would not go through and would eventually end, a few times they did make it through and we had to have the operator end the call, the radio nor the button on the rear view mirror would allow us to end the call. The radio would transfer stations on its own, it would start calling and texting on its own, the seat heaters started turning on and off on their own and the rear view camera started to flash onto the screen all on its own as well. Essentially the electronic system within the vehicle went absolutely crazy on its own and did not respond to any of our efforts to stop it. It was very distracting and extremely unsafe, as we were driving down the interstate in a construction zone that has numerous vehicle accidents each week. Did I mention that I had my wife and 18 month old twins in the vehicle when it happened?!? So we took it to the dealership, just outside of our extended warranty now, to have a dealer giggle and simply tell us its a KNOWN issue, but it would be $165 dollars to diagnose. After running the diagnostic we were informed the vehicle needed a software update, but were still charged the $165. The software update did not fix the issue, the radio is still possessed, and we were quoted as parts costing 1500 dollars and labor taking it up to over 2000. The vehicle has just over 85,000 miles. I'm hoping customer care will help fix this issue, given the shear numbers of reports. Do have video of incident as well. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The 8.4 UCONNECT screen is delaminating. It is a known issue with FCA vehicles and FCA is denying they know anything about it because it is a very expensive head unit to replace. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Uconnect screen with radio/nav/driver controls is delaminating, causing screens to change and overriding all driver selections. It creates serious safety issues when the unit overrides driver choices, and is also distracting as the unit beeps and switches back and forth among options. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The UConnect screen has a bubble from delamination of the screen components, and has been causing distracting "phantom" screen touches, flashing the screen between apps, and making unintended changes to screen settings. The driver is forced to ignore whatever the screen is doing until it's safe to divert attention. This problem was confirmed by a Jeep dealer, but Jeep customer service declined to pay to fix the faulty component. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. I am the original owner and I am having issues with my screen backup screen bubbling. Also, it changes the heat all the way up or down and keeps moving, it changes the radio station, it makes calls on my phone without me dialing. Very distracting while driving. So I just shut it off and then when I make a call on my cell it comes back on and starts it all over again. Kinda like the car is possessed. I did contact Chrysler Care line at 1-800-992-1997. They asked me for my VIN number and had me verify my address. They did open a case number for me and I am supposed to take to a dealer and get it evaluated and then call them back. I did notice online a lot of other people having the same issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Touch screen is delaminating which does not allow you to access operating functions. The screen has ghost touch's which it does all on its own. The ghosting changes screen functions continuously. Annoying and a safety hazard. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My radio console is starting to delaminate causing my console to constantly be jumping around and unable to use. Jeep dealership is aware of the problem. It poses as a threat for daily driving to hands free options as well as unable to use my navigation features, climate settings and most anything dealing with the touchscreen. This issue needs to be recalled or fixed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Uconnect infotainment screen is delaminating. The layers of the screen are coming apart internally and forming what looks like a large bubble. This is causing buttons to get pressed by themselves, with no human interaction. The faulty screen is extremely distracting while trying to drive, especially at night, and causes a great safety hazard. The screen controls many things in the vehicle including radio, navigation, HVAC, phone calls, etc. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | The speed control malfunctioned. the vehicle was in drive not moving when it started accelerating on its own. This malfunction could cause serious injury or death . There was no indication of a problem prior to the failure. I shifted to park and shut off the engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Unknown The display panel lamination is becoming unlaminated and my phone display calls the right number but displays the wrong contact picture and disconnects from Bluetooth randomly which causes unsafe conditions where I have to take focus off of driving to correct which means in that moment I am no longer operating hands free which defeats the purpose of hands free operations. The date below is not correct for it is like I said random. But the form made me choose a date. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EQUIPMENT | The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the infotainment screen had started to delaminate. Due to the failure, various infotainment screen features would perform random functions independently while the vehicle was in operation. The contact stated that the defect was distracting while driving. The manufacturer of the infotainment screen was notified of the failure and informed him that the cost of the repair would only be covered for original vehicle owner. The contact stated that he was not the original owner of the vehicle; therefore, he did not qualify for the repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 45,000 |
| Aug 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | UConnect stereo face is delaminating which started about 20 months ago ( when Covid caused labor shortages and very long waits to get to a dealer) and is getting worse. This is causing the stereo to change stations, make outgoing phone calls, hanging up on calls, disconnecting the phone, powering itself on and off, loss of Navigation, not to mention the loss of heated seats and steering wheel. I tried calling FCA and the woman (Wendy) was just not wanting to hear anything other than to tell me to take it to a dealer. RUDE !! She refused to transfer me to her supervisor... This is a VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE with this stereo. My wife is the driver of this vehicle and I do not want her in an unsafe condition. Of course a Dealer wants the vehicle for an entire day instead of taking 15 seconds to walk out and look at the display and verify that it is in fact the KNOWN ISSUE and then order the stereo and make yet another appointment maybe months later with the parts shortages everywhere, leaving my wife to continue driving the vehicle in the unsafe condition. PLEASE issue a RECALL for this KNOWN problem... Thank You. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC | The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The uconnect radio screen is delaminating making the screen go crazy. turning things on and off. Verry unsafe while driving | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | U-Connect 8.4 screen has delaminted causing functions such as navigation, radio, back up, telephone to constantly change while driving. The screen keeps changing while driving which is a risk during driving since we need such apps as navigation to drive. This causes us to constantly take our eyes off the road and fix the screen. This happen as often as 40 times per minute. Extremely dangerous and distracting. My Jeep is a 2018 an the delamination started at about 35,000 with no issues other than delamination. At about 42,000 mile the delamination is more severe and very dangerous and distracting to the driver. Now my vehicle has 42,800 miles and I cannot drive it fearing an accident. I called the dealer they said it is out of warranty. This is a common problem I have researched with Jeep U connect 8.4 screens for 2017 & 2018 model years I have a video of this happening and it's scary. I am no longer driving my car until I can have it fixed | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Infotainment, HVAC car control screen de-lamination. Screen bubbling up and randomly selecting functions that are not user selected. Like ghost button presses randomly while driving the car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The Uconnect has delimanted and is causing the display to jump around. Driving on the expressway the back-up camera kept coming on, the heat and warming features jump around, the Uconnect makes calls, it has tried calling the SOS number. This is a known issue and Jeep should be working with their customers to fix. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | STRUCTURE | Leather dash is delaminating. You issues service/recall repair for 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2019 for same issue. This has not been resolved issue is all over the internet and owners are furious with fca for not fixing the issue. Seems to happen just outside of warranty around 42000-60000 miles. Mine was at 42500. I don’t know what to do. This is getting into my lower part of windshield impeding my vision outside my windshield. The service/recall needs to be extended to include subsequent vehicles with leather dash boards. From 2014-present. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | The touch screen on the center console of the vehicle is delaminating. The digitizer is peeling off of the screen at the top edge. This causes phantom touches on the display, causing pop-ups to appear at random, sometimes back to back in a short time. Most notably, the clock at the top-center of the display is experiencing phantom touches which causes a pop-up asking if I would like to configure the clock. This pop-up obscures most of the screen and does not go away unless dismissed by the driver or a passenger. This issue is distracting for the driver, and blocks access to digital buttons used to control function of the car, as well as other systems like the onboard navigation. The component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The delamination began in the top two corners of the screen. In the span of about two weeks the entire top edge of the digitizer has peeled away from the screen and it continues to peel off downwards. This issue first manifested while the car was parked outside on a hot day, and I believe the summer heat has exacerbated the issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The screen on the car’s infotainment system is delaminating and I cannot use the touch screen in the delaminated areas. This is preventing hands-free capabilities while driving since touch is the only way to navigate the system and posing a safety hazard. It is preventing access to the federally mandated backup camera and vehicle controls. The touch screen will sometimes “ghost touch” options without the user touching the screen, causing the system to randomly turn on the radio, make calls, activate climate control, and more. It is progressively getting worse and is present in many other 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees. It is a manufacturing defect causing distractions while driving and should be recalled. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 8.4 radio screen is delaminating, the delaminating and causing safety issues while driving. If cold out the heated seats stay on even after warming up, cannot turn off due to screen ghosting/flickering. I purchased to Jeep brand new from Military Auto Sells in South Korea. Tried to get it repaired here in Korea under my warrantee, was told it did not fall under my warrantee. FYI, My actual address is as below (Not California), no option for Military living living overseas. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Where to start. Display module glue is falling apart. Can no longer use my screen due to poor glue adhesion. All ADAS systems malfunctioning: FCW, LKA, Automatic Emergency Breaking, Blind Spot Warning, ACC, Rear Cross Traffic Warning systems do not work. Overall bad build quality and cannot use safety features. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
