Mar 2025 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The fuel pump on my 2023 Chevrolet Equinox began malfunctioning on [XXX] when the check engine light came on. Less than 24 hours later, the light went out. On [XXX], while leaving a CVS pharmacy, the vehicle jerked, then the engine shut off. After putting the car in park, I was able to restart the car and continue on. On [XXX], the check engine light illuminated again. While sitting at a stop light in the turn lane, as I began to push the accelerator, the vehicle once again jerked and the engine shut-off, almost causing the vehicle behind me to collide. I was able to restart the car and continue on my way. On 3/21/25, I took the car to the local Chevrolet dealership (Integrity Chevrolet in Chattanooga, TN). After inspecting the car, the dealer informed me the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel pump module was bad and had to be replaced. The service manager agreed this failure was not the result of operator error and should NOT have failed after only 2.5 years of normal use. The conditions/symptoms are almost exactly the same as those described in GM recall notice N222372310 (dated 5/23/23). The repair cost $1,113.46 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mar 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Fuel pump. It’s available for inspection. Left me stuck on the side of a busy highway with cars flying past. Check engine light. A message said engine power reduced had to take side streets home with hazard lights. Car would not accelerate or go over 40 mph on a 45 mph road. I had the check engine light checked at auto zone. No the vehicle has not been inspected. No warning lights before. I pushed the gas pedal down and the car had no power, started to sputter message popped up on the dash that said engine power reduced and check engine light was on. Problem started right before 4pm on 3/10/2025.

Feb 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM High pressure fuel pump failed while driving causing a sudden loss in power. Vehicle went into limp mode and would not exceed 5 mph. Check engine light and dash warning illuminated. Vehicle had to be towed. Dealer could then not get vehicle to even start. The sudden loss of power in a traffic situation would be dangerous with the potential for another vehicle to collide from the rear due to the sudden deceleration with no brake lights.

Jan 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Unable to respond to text messages verbally whenever you get a text. Initially the driver could accept and reply thru the radio if so desired but now this function does not work as before. Both the dealer and Chevrolet have not resolved the issue. Three case numbers have been assigned (9-14405693026, 9-14415635001, & 9-1445732776) without resolving the issue. The vehicle is well within warranty mileage. There is no safe way to safely respond to a text.

Jan 2025 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,ENGINE The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after two or three attempts each time. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the OnStar app notified her of fuel issues. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump and the feed pipe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000.

Dec 2024 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Electronics continually work in a “muted” manor. Not enough heat from the seat, steering wheel etc. Park assist and cruise control disengage on their own. Infotainment screen fails to recognize key fob and reboots radio. Entire camera system frequently goes out with an error that no cameras are even hooked up. HVAC system runs way too cold. Blower cuts out. Random vents will work, others don’t or struggle. Zero airflow out of the rear vents. Excessive water drips out of vehicle from several spots while either minimal or no exhaust coming from tailpipe. Sometimes exhaust comes from under the hood. Transmission shifts when it shouldn’t and doesn’t when it should. Grinding sensation from gas pedal upon accelerating. Very sluggish. No power. Rpms reach 3000-4000 trying to accelerate down steep inclines. Gravity is no match for this vehicle. Long shifts cause vehicle to remain in a state of constant braking. Getting only 18 mpg. Can’t maintain speed. Every shift is felt in pedals and steering wheel. Pulls to different sides after each shift. Power steering much too tight and difficult to turn. Numerous times fuel has failed to reach the engine. Not having control of acceleration, steering and no winter warmth is dangerous. At best. It’s downright deadly. DePaula Chevrolet will do absolutely nothing. GM corporate was also no help. This vehicle is destroying me financially and cost me my job. These problems have been happening daily since two miles after I left the lot on the date of purchase.

Dec 2024 SERVICE BRAKES Entering a freeway off-ramp at about 65 mph, I depressed the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor with little resistance. Two error messages were displayed on the dashboard: "Brake System Failure - 62 MPH Top Speed" and "Service ESC". The following dashboard lights came on: Check Engine, Brake, ESC, ABS. I held the brake pedal to the floor and coasted to a complete stop at the intersection, then proceeded slowly into a nearby parking lot and stopped. Braking effort did not become difficult, rather it was reduced to a small fraction of normal braking power. An online search indicated that disconnecting/reconnecting the negative battery terminal might resolve the problem, and it did, allowing me to carefully drive home with full braking. The local Chevrolet dealer replaced the brake system control module based on GM document 5081450.

Dec 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Multiple problems since vehicle was bought brand new 2023 with 9 miles on it. 1st time - high pressure fuel pump died doing 70mph on high way. Took them 3 months to repair it. 2nd time- breaks completely stopped working while driving, all lights came on. They cleared the code and said to drive it. 3rd time- 2 days later breaks keep pushing through. They will not address it. 4th time- broke down with check engine light on high way. Turned off then on again light goes away, never saved a code. 5th time- will not shift out of 4th gear on high way. Dealer said they could not replicate this. It has not stopped doing this along with throttle response being dangerously poor.

Oct 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Water leak flooding the rear passenger compartment floor and the rear spare tire well. The water appears to be entering at the rear pillars. On the left rear leak, it is entering the fuse panel. The right rear leaks by the power outlet. I fear this is going to cause corrosion and create problems in the future. I removed almost 2 gallons of water from the rear floor with a carpet extractor. I was able to pull a drain plug in the rear spare tire well to remove that water. The moisture in the vehicle condensates on the inside windshield, moon/sunroof and the rear back glass making it difficult to leave in an emergency without first wiping all the window down with a towel. FYI: I am the brother of the vehicle owner. She has stage 4 lung cancer and I am handling things for her.

Oct 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM On 9/23/24 I was turning into a gas station going up a bit but of an incline and my car died, reduced engine power light came on as well as check engine light. Tried restart car and it would not start. Let vehicle sit for some time and it started and ran fine, the next day I took off it into the dealership and was told diagnostic indicates my fuel pump needs replaced, I replaced my fuel pump and the car ran fine until October 5, 2024 was driving down the highway at about 65mph when my vehicle lost power, I was able to pull off the road by coasting. Tried to start vehicle no power, engine power reduced light back on as well as check engine light. I was left stuck on the road waiting on a tow truck to take my vehicle back to the dealership that worked on it previously after contacting Chevy it was determined my fuel system failed and the part needed us on back order.

Aug 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Car lost power on highway. Driving 65 MPH upon exiting ramp, got a check engine light and immediately a message saying reduced engine power. Car went to a speed of about 45 MPH IMMEDIATELY. Thankfully I was able to exit the highway having been ON THE RAMP. I was still able to drive the car on reduced power, had to turn on the hazard and the car was unable to go over 20 MPH. Took it to firestone and was notified that there was a fuel pump issue. Car only had 29000 miles. I know several people this happened to. An absolute joke, these should be recalled.

May 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM February-March 2024 the car would stall when trying to accelerate. April 2024 while driving to the store, the vehicle reduced speed and went into power save mode, and the check engine light appeared. I took it to the dealer on a Monday morning and from their diagnosis they reported nothing was wrong. They stated I pretty much had to wait until the car went out before they can figure out what's wrong. May 2024 while reversing and then putting the vehicle in drive, the car begin to lose power and a message appeared saying switch to neutral. After parking and turning the car off, then turning it back on, it hardly wanted to turn on and the message appeared again to put the car in neutral.

May 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Fuel pump quit on 12/24/23. Dealer had vehicle four months while GM designed new pump. Notified vehicle was ready but later same day was notified the catalytic converter was bad - one ordered. Another week. Picked up vehicle mid April 24 and drove about three miles and warning light came on. Returned to dealer, mechanic made adjustments and said all fixed. Been dealing w/GM for buy back or higher trade in. Battle all the way. Bought as tow vehicle with RV. About to leave on 2 to 3,000 mile trip. Do not trust Equinox and want to return/trade for another Equinox or Blazer. Have also looked at Ford products. BTW I was in the inside lane of a busy four lane highway when this happened and speed reduced to about 5 miles per hour. People love their horns when you try to get in outside lane in heavy traffic.

Feb 2024 SEATS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER We bought the car in July 2023. We had it for a month then it started to smell like mildew and mold. It permeated into our clothes. We took it to the dealership and they had the car for about two months. When we got it back it smelled like strong soap, but after a week or two it started to smell again. We took it back again. This time they used Ionize. That lasted two days and it smells again.
