Jul 2024 SERVICE BRAKES After hitting any size bump my car does not stop, the car starts shaking, and I have to slam on the brake in order to stop. This has happened multiple times, the most recent caused me to almost run a red light and cause and accident. I am reaching out to the dealer today. The car did not show any warning lights on the dashboard.

Jun 2024 SERVICE BRAKES Under slow speeds and while applying brakes over bumps, the breaks become unresponsive. The car does not react to pushing the brakes pedal. It almost feels like ABS is kicking in but the car does not slow down.

Jun 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Leased vehicle in September 2022. In December 2022 Apple Car Play stopped functioning. This was a safety issue as when driving to a destination all of a sudden it stopped working so the GPS directions stopped and the calls would not come through either over the Bluetooth so we had to fumble with the phone. Also when this would happen the car’s NAVI system would not work or even load. Numerous visits to the dealer in 2023 and they were never able to figure out the issue. They changed the radio unit and it would work for a while and stop again. In January 2024 it worked for about 3 months then stopped again in April 2024. Over the last month the car’s NAVI system has stopped working completely and today the car would not start. AAA came over and the battery is dead and they suspect there is an electrical problem draining the battery as usually batteries last 3-4 years. As I explained numerous times to the dealership in 2023 this is a safety issue where many times my wife who mostly drives the vehicle with our kids would be driving using the Apple car play which would then disconnect as well as the Bluetooth voice for calls and sometimes could not on side of the road. We will be towing the car to the dealership and ask them to replace the battery but diagnose all electronics as if this not fix once and for all it will drain the battery again. We need a resolution to this safety problem.

Jun 2024 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving over train tracks at about 5 mph when my car wouldn’t brake. I was jamming down on the pedal and that eventually triggered a really aggressive ABS and emergency braking. I came millimeters away from hitting the car in front of me and the whole time it felt like I had zero control of the car and the car just had a mind of its own. Based on what I’ve read online I believe this is a known issue that Hyundai is ignoring.

Jun 2024 SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving 5 MPH – 10 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred daily, causing him to almost rear-end other vehicles. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

May 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was slowing down approaching an intersection with cars already at a full stop up ahead. I was braking to slow down in preparation to stop. As I got closer, I drove over railroad tracks and felt the brake pedal begin to vibrate like the automatic emergency braking system kicked in. With my foot still on the brake, the car continued forward without any additional decrease in speed. I pushed my foot down as hard as I could and the car stopped inches from the car in front of me. I’m not sure if me pressing on the brake more even did anything or if some other collision avoidance system in the car stopped it before colliding with the car in front of me. There was beeping and the display switched to show cameras in front of the car, which happens when getting close to something while parking, etc. Luckily I was slowing and not at a high rate of speed. If I had hit the car ahead of me, there would have been damage but not major. What if I was going faster when this occurred? Or if I was braking for a person or bike? Or if it was collision avoidance that actually stopped the car here but I was the first car stopping in the intersection and couldn’t stop.

May 2024 SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while in stop-and-go traffic, the brake pedal was depressed and was abnormally stiff. As a result, the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop and crashed into another vehicle. The "Critical Forward Safety functions are limited" and "Radar blocked." warning messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries reported. A dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a packet would be mailed and needed to be completed on the incident. The contact was then informed that based on the information in the packet, an investigator may reach out to the contact within six to eight weeks to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was later taken to a dealer where an inspection was performed however the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V415000(Service Brakes, Hydraulics). The failure mileage was approximately 3,550.

May 2024 VISIBILITY/WIPER Driving in heavy rain, wipers quit. No snow, no ice, just heavy rain. This creates a potential for a fatal incident. Approximately 5 to 10 minutes after quitting and upon turning wipers off and back on, wipers reset and begin to work again.

May 2024 SERVICE BRAKES I purchased my vehicle from South Point Hyundai in Austin, Texas on [XXX], 2022. Almost immediately after purchase, I began having trouble with the vehicle’s braking system. In essence, the vehicle seems to inappropriately activate its ABS while braking over uneven surfaces (think-parking lots, speed bumps) in dry conditions. I have dashcam videos of at least three examples of this happening (from Aug ‘22 through May ‘24). I took the vehicle to the dealer for repairs that included the braking issue on or about [XXX], 2022, but the dealer claimed they were unable to diagnose and address the braking problem. There were no dash indicators or DTCs that were available. This problem continued to exhibit itself and was a matter of concern to our family, until the braking system’s failure caused a collision with a parking garage access gate arm on [XXX] 2024. This incident has created distress, and substantially impairs my family’s willingness to use the vehicle due to a now established safety hazard. We do not wish to put others in danger for a mechanical failure that we were told was non-existent when we tried to get it fixed in December of 2022. We have also been put in a tough situation because we do not have access to an additional vehicle for use while the problem is diagnosed at the dealer. May 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy which I bought in July 2023 failed to start in May 2024 inside my house garage. It had an error message of "Check ESC" where ESC stands for electronic stability control. After trying a couple of more times to start it, it completely died. Had it tow to the dealer and after a few days in the dealer, they told me it was a dead battery. The car went from no warnings at all to completely being dead inside my garage. No explanation of why the battery did not warn of any issues or why a "check ESC" warning code was displayed instead of displaying a "low battery" code. A search in the internet shows an unbelievable amount of accounts of these Hyundai Palisades suddenly causing the car to die and an "check ESC" code showing immediately after the car dies down. There has to be issues with these cars bacause this issue seems to be happening very often.

Stopped car shut off for a couple minutes and it seemed to reset but in the last 10 miles driving has happened 5 times 4 driving and 1 on start up and could not get out of parking spot. Each time shut car off and able to reset.Have an appointment on May 28 with dealer. Forum info says corporate has found this this to be loose ground wire. Repair requires removing dashboard. Giving dealership a shot to straighten out. If is there a repeat will be initiating a claim under Lemon Law.

Apr 2024 SERVICE BRAKES While driving intermittently, the brake pedal becomes hard and does not allow for eased braking. The car continues to roll forward and appears unable to stop. After pumping and applying hard pressure, finally, the brake pedal depresses fully and forces a hard and immediate stop. The entire car seems to shake during the event. This has occurred approximately 5-8 different times at different speeds, all below 25 mph, such as in a parking lot and while exiting the freeway. There have been no lights or warning indications before, during, or after. The entire car shakes violently when the brake pedal is gently pressed. The car almost continued into an intersection of heavy traffic before stopping. The first and only appointment has just been made with the dealer for inspection tomorrow, April 16, 2024. No maintenance has been performed since the original purchase, and no other incidents have occurred with the vehicle.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE Major safety concern with vehicle stalling, having no power, not moving mainly in Snow Mode. The first month of purchase the car stalled, had no power, would not move in Comfort Mode. My Husband was driving and I thought it was a weird fluke or something. Then it happened driving up the hill to our house several times over the past year. That was annoying enough and THEN it snowed last week, roads were snow packed and icy. I was headed to work, had car in snow mode, attempted to pull out into traffic (thankfully with a whole lot of room between me and oncoming traffic!) and the car would NOT move. It literally stalled/lagged and would not go. I was almost read ended on a highway!!! This is not ok! I took the Palisade into the Dealership to look at/test and they "could not get it to replicate the issue". I also submitted a complaint to Hyundai Corporate, and after speaking with a Case Manager several times over the phone and via email - including sending them recorded video documentation of the issues, Hyundai determined that they would do nothing about this and would not even purchase the vehicle back. They could care less that a vehicle they produced is causing major safety issues for the public. I am beyond irate! We way overpaid for this car ("high demand" at the time of purchase) - $15,000 down, and because Hyundai does not care about their product, we just traded the vehicle in to get rid of it and had to pay an additional $7,000 out of pocket. There are literally NO WORDS!!! My families safety is worth more than the money we lost out on with that awful vehicle.

Apr 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE This incident occured on 4-2-2024, while driving to the doctor with my newborn daughter. Our 2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited did not respond/accelerate/move when pressing on the gas pedal. The engine/transmission seemed to malfunction when trying to pull off from a green traffic light. There was loss of power and the palisade would not move. This vehicle was purchased brand new and it is a serious safety concern that the vehicle can malfunction when attempting to accelerate.

Apr 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I have lost all confidence in this vehicle and my family, and I are scared to drive in (especially my 5 year old daughter). The mechanical failures that were experienced during these events were intense and life risking. During the first incident the vehicle brakes engaged while driving and caused the vehicle to stall in the middle of an intersection while turning left to enter highway, numerous vehicles were traveling in opposite direction and could have resulted in head on collision. No systems worked during this event, neither the horn nor the headlights worked to signal other vehicles of problem. Had to slam on the gas, which led to violent vehicle take off, that jolted my daughter around in her car seat and narrowly avoided collision with other vehicles. That was on [XXX], and similar events happened on [XXX] and [XXX]. Video and pictures of event were taken as they occurred on [XXX] event. Claim (Case#: XXX) was opened with Hyundai Consumer Affairs on [XXX]. All videos and pictures were shared on multiple occasions with Hyundai Team. Hyundai refused to repurchase the vehicle under Lemon Law provisions and cited that the issue didn’t start until the [XXX] event, which exceeds the 12-month statute. However, the issues started in Aug of 2023 and the dealer service records clearly document this. Hyundai insists that since they could not replicate the issue it didn’t start until Feb 1, when they were able to replicate. I don’t agree with this view and should not be penalized because of Hyundai’s technical limitations. Furthermore, they were perfectly fine with using my family as Guinee Pigs as they instructed me to continue driving the car and bring it when it happened again. Completely dismissing the gravity and potential consequences of the events, as described above, that took place on [XXX]. This vehicle has proven to have major malfunctions and should be removed from circulation immediately. Hyundai claims the issues have INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mar 2024 SEAT BELTS Seat belt buckle of second row bucket seat on driver’s side is malfunctioning. Buckle clips in as expected, and then disengages on its own without user touching it. Seat belt unclicked with a passenger sitting in it, when driver applied brakes coming to a stop. There are no warning lights or error codes. The safety of anyone sitting in that seat is entirely compromised and we cannot use this seat until the buckle is replaced. We consider this a total failure of the safety device and needs to be investigated within other vehicles immediately. We are getting the belt buckle replaced at local Hyundai dealership.
